1. Appointment Availability

Appointments are available from Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. However, we can accommodate you in out of business hours to make sure we are able to provide support when you need it. Individuals, please allow 50+ minutes per session, and couples 90 minutes per joint session. Feel free to get in touch with us to book an appointment at your convenience.

2. Do I need a referral to see a Therapist?

It is not necessary to have a referral to see a therapist. You can choose to be seen without it too, as a self-referral. We welcome referrals from different sources, however, Medicare rebates will be available if you have a referral from your GP, accompanying a mental health treatment plan. You can attend your first session for a fee (per service basis), following which you can discuss a referral and eligibility for a mental health treatment plan with your GP. The referral can be attained from a GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician. If you are not looking to obtain a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, you may also be entitled for a rebate as a part of your private health insurance.

4. Payment Method and Medicare Rebates

Payment can be made at the time of consultation via cash, EFTPOS or credit card.

Medicare rebates

If you have a valid referral letter and Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician you can claim Medicare rebates of $77.80 per session for up to 20* sessions per calendar year (as the Federal Government has announced the increase of the Medicare rebates from 10 to 20 sessions per calendar year in response to COVID-19 until 30th June 2022) but there will be a small gap (an out-of-pocket expense). Onsite electronic Medicare claiming machine Hicaps/Tyro is available so you can get the rebates instantly. You can bring your referral letter or Mental Health Treatment Plan or get it faxed to us.

Private Health Insurance

If you do not have a referral that entitles you to a Medicare Rebate, you may be entitled to a rebate from your private health insurer.arrangements for the paperwork you may require. The amount will certainly depend on the inclusions of your private insurance, so it is recommended to get in touch with them for more information. In case you plan to utilise your private health insurance,  please let us know so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Note: We are not a bulk billing practice.

5. Cancellation Policy

To help you manage your time and health, an automated SMS system will remind you of your appointment with an option to confirm or cancel.

If you need to cancel an appointment, please notify the office as soon as possible by calling (08) 7081 7861 or sending an email to admin@thewisemind.com.au

Note: Medicare rebate does not apply to cancellation fees.

Clients are required to give a minimum of 24 hours notice prior to cancelling appointments. failure to do so will result in following charges:
0-2 hours’ notice, 100% of fee.
2-24 hours’ notice, 50% of fee.
